One diagnostic fee, then a written number
Flat $80 diagnostic. It is credited toward the repair if you go ahead with the work.

Flat, per cabinet, anywhere inside our 25-mile area.
Applied to the repair if you go ahead with the work we quote.
You get a written estimate before any part is ordered or any labor is billed.
What the diagnostic buys
A technician on site, the grille off, and readings taken rather than guesses made. Temperatures at the cabinet and at the evaporator, airflow and condenser condition, door seal and closure, drain path, and the water side where the complaint involves ice. You get a written finding: what is wrong, what caused it, and what the cabinet will do if it is left alone.
If two cabinets are being looked at on the same visit — a refrigerator column and its paired freezer, say, or a kitchen unit and an outdoor undercounter — tell us when you book and we will price the second one before we arrive rather than after.
What does the repair itself cost?
Bands, not a menu. The table below is every band we publish, parts and labor together, with the diagnostic at the top of it. A single number per symptom would be a guess dressed up as a policy — the same complaint can be a fifteen-minute drain clearance or a sealed system job — but a range is something you can act on before anyone stands in your kitchen. Where your cabinet lands inside its band is settled by the readings, and the sequence never changes: diagnosis, written estimate, your decision, work.
Parts are genuine oem parts. If a part is on back-order we tell you the wait before you commit, along with what the cabinet can safely do in the meantime.
What is not billed
- Travel inside our service area. It is in the diagnostic fee.
- The condenser clean carried out during a repair visit.
- A second opinion on our own written finding.
- A call that ends with us telling you it is not worth repairing.
Where salt changes the arithmetic
On this coast a fouled condenser is often the whole fault, and cleaning it is cheaper than anything else on the list. That is the good news. The bad news is that a coil left loaded for years pushes the compressor to run long and warm, and the bill that eventually arrives is a sealed system one. Our advice on coil service is not an upsell; it is the cheapest line item we have.
Is the repair worth it against replacing the cabinet?
That is a separate arithmetic and it has its own page. The table below is one half of it; the other half is what a comparable built-in costs before panels, delivery and the joinery it has to fit. Repair or replace works the comparison through band by band, including the cases where we tell an owner not to spend.
Terms
90 days on labor, 365 days on parts. Genuine OEM parts on every repair. The full cover is set out on the warranty page. We service Sub-Zero refrigeration only, and we are an independent shop with no manufacturer program behind us. Common questions are answered on the questions page.
What does each repair cost?
Flat $80 diagnostic covering the visit and the full diagnostic sequence, credited toward the repair once you approve the work.
| Work | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Diagnostic visit | $80 flat, credited |
| Door gasket or seal replacement | $230–$630 |
| Evaporator or condenser fan motor | $270–$590 |
| Defrost heater, thermostat or sensor | $240–$610 |
| Ice maker, water valve or supply line | $240–$660 |
| Electronic control board | $430–$790 |
| Compressor or sealed-system repair | $920–$2,380 |
| Instead of repairing | Typical range |
|---|---|
| A comparable built-in, appliance only | $8,600–$19,400 |
| Typical 36-42 inch built-in, the usual repair-or-replace comparison | $11,600–$16,800 |
| Custom panels and integrated cabinetry, on top of the appliance | $2,000–$5,000 |
| Replacement wine storage or an undercounter unit, appliance only | $3,500–$5,500 |
Ranges, not quotes. What a cabinet actually needs is settled by readings taken with the grille off, and the figure you are asked to approve is written down before a part is ordered.
Is the diagnostic fee really credited?
- Yes, in full, against the repair we quote on the same cabinet. If you decide not to go ahead, the fee stands as payment for the visit and for the written finding, which is yours to take to whoever you like.
Why publish ranges instead of a fixed price?
- Because the same complaint can be a drain clearance or a sealed-system job, and one number for both would be a guess dressed up as a policy. A band tells you what the fault normally costs; the readings tell us where inside it your cabinet sits.
What is not billed?
- Travel inside the service area, the condenser clean carried out during a repair visit, a second opinion on our own written finding, and a call that ends with us telling you the cabinet is not worth the part.
Will a second cabinet cost a second visit?
- Not if you say so when you book. A paired column, or a kitchen unit and an outdoor undercounter, can be diagnosed on one visit and we will price the second cabinet before we arrive rather than after.
