What owners said after the visit

Rated 4.4 out of 5 across all 60 reviews published on this site.

Hand tools and a multimeter laid out in a line on a towel on a bare concrete floor, the power lead of the appliance trailing away to the left.
Every visit leaves a written record

Every entry is one owner describing one visit: what the cabinet was doing, what was found once the panel came off, and how the call ended. They are published with a first name and a last initial, which is as much as anyone agreed to have sitting on a public page.

Which reviews are on this page?

The 22 below are the ones no other page on this site is already showing, newest first. The other 38 are printed where they are most use: beside the fault they describe on the repair pages, and on the block page for the street the visit was made on. Between them, every entry in the pool is printed in full somewhere on this site.

How is the number worked out?

The 4.4 is the plain arithmetic mean of all 60 reviews in the pool — not carried over from anywhere else, and not an average of a set that is hidden from you. The stars fall like this:

Every review in the pool, by the rating it carries.
Rating Stars Reviews
5 star 30
4 star 24
3 star 6

Nothing is held back for reading badly. The four-star notes are mostly a part that had to be ordered or a second visit; the three-star ones are about waiting, and about an appointment window that was wider than it should have been. Those are the ones worth reading first, because they describe what happens when a job does not run cleanly.

What can a review here not tell you?

What your repair will cost. The $80 diagnostic is flat; everything after it depends on what the readings find and is put in writing before any work starts — the bands are on pricing. It cannot tell you whether your cabinet is worth repairing either. That is a readings-and-parts question, answered on the day with the model and serial plate in front of us.

Seawall Refrigeration works Sub-Zero refrigeration only, out of Jacksonville Beach and roughly 25 miles around it. If your fault sounds like one below, the number is on the contact page.

Ice was arriving as a solid slab instead of cubes. He traced it to a fill valve letting by and a mould heater cycling too long, replaced both, and told us to tip the first two batches away before judging it.

The repair itself was sound and the cabinet has behaved since. Getting to it was the trouble: the part came from elsewhere, the wait ran longer than we were first told, and we were chasing the update rather than being given it.

The 42-inch built-in ran without stopping and the milk was still going off. He found the door heater circuit stuck on and a gasket that had lost its magnet strip along the hinge side. Both sorted in one visit.

The cabinet was pulling down to about fifty and no further. He gauged it, found a slow leak at a brazed joint near the evaporator, and was straight with us that it meant a bigger job than a board swap.

He photographed the coil before and after so I could see what one summer of onshore wind leaves on it. The compressor had been cycling short because of that, and it settled once the fin pack was clear.

The ice maker would make one batch then stop for a day. He found the ejector arm binding on a crust of scale and the inlet valve slow to open. He fitted a new valve and descaled the mould before leaving.

The freezer was building frost in sheets and the compressor never rested. He found a partial restriction in the capillary rather than a leak, and walked me through why the two look identical from outside.

Water was pooling under the crisper every few days. He cleared a blocked drain trough and the frozen slug in the tube behind it, then showed me how to catch it coming back before it reaches the floor.

The compressor was running hot and the freezer would not go below zero. He took readings on both sides, found the system undercharged, and was honest that hunting a leak in a beach house is slow work.

Two columns, one of them warm, and the joinery meant neither could be pulled without care. He protected the panels, found a blocked drain and a tired evaporator fan on the warm side, and left the kitchen as he found it.

    Tobias Q.November 2025

No ice for a week and the reservoir was dry. He traced it to a supply line pinched behind the cabinet when the floor was redone, and rerouted it properly instead of simply clearing the blockage.

The fin pack behind the grille was closer to felt than to metal after a summer of onshore wind. He worked it out in strips rather than blasting at it, and showed me what had come off before the panel went back.

Our wine cabinet had drifted warm on the lower shelves while the display insisted all was well. He found the lower evaporator fan stalling, swapped it, then let the unit settle and came back to the readings.

Warm at the top, cold at the bottom, and two people had already told us to replace the whole cabinet. He measured the airflow at the damper instead, found the path iced behind the liner, and cleared it.

    Octavia R.September 2026

He would not guess. Gauges on, readings written down, and only then did he say the evaporator was leaking at a return bend rather than the compressor being finished. It has held through the hottest fortnight.

    Lorcan B.September 2026

The freezer column kept alarming overnight and clearing itself by morning. He set it to record rather than shrug at it, came back with the log, and pinned it on a door heater and a hinge that had dropped out of true.

The undercounter drawers on the porch side were sweating inside and the seals had gone slack in the heat. He fitted new gaskets, adjusted the drawer travel, and warned us the compartment needs more air than the joinery gives it.

    Bartholomew F.August 2026

Second clean on the interval he set for this street rather than the once a year most people assume. The compartment ran cooler afterwards, the unit stopped labouring into the evening, and nothing needed replacing.

Humidity in the wine cabinet had collapsed and the corks were drying out. He found the drain path silted up and the door seal riding on a worn hinge bush, and treated the two as one fault rather than two visits.

    Celestine D.August 2026

  • 5 out of 5

Production had halved and the bin still filled by evening, so we assumed nothing was wrong. He showed us the temperature of the supply line and the frost line on the mould, then flushed the line and changed the filter.

    Ottoline P.August 2026

  • 5 out of 5

Honest about what it would take before anything was opened up. The compressor was drawing hard and the condenser had corroded through at one end, so he laid out what he could do and what he would not promise.

    Augustin C.August 2026

  • 4 out of 5

Frost kept coming back on the rear wall of the refrigerator column while the freezer beside it stayed clear. The defrost sensor was reading through ice and never closing. It was replaced, and the wall has stayed dry.
