What we did

• Contrast is measured, not guessed. Every colour pairing in the design tokens carries its measured ratio in a comment. Body text runs at 11.43:1 on the page ground; the muted text at 5.91:1; links at 6.25:1. The teal accent is restricted to rules, borders and large type because it measures 4.33:1, which is AA for large text and non-text only.
• Body text starts at 17px. Not 16. Nothing that carries running prose is set smaller, and the legal microcopy floor is 15px.
• Focus is always visible. A 3px outline, offset, in a colour measured against both the light ground and the dark bands. It is never removed.
• The page works without JavaScript. The only script on the site opens the mobile menu; with it disabled, every link is still reachable and every page still renders.
• Motion is minimal and respectful. Transitions are 160ms colour changes. Under prefers-reduced-motion they collapse to 1ms and smooth scrolling turns off.
• Structure is real. One h1 per page, headings in order, landmarks for header, navigation, main and footer, a skip link as the first focusable element, and breadcrumbs marked up as a navigation list.
• The exposure scale is not colour-only. The rust-to-teal gradient is decorative; the distance and the exposure band are also given as text, and the whole figure carries a text alternative.
• Targets are at least 44px. Buttons and the menu control meet that on touch.
• Readings are marked up as data, not as layout. The figures at the top of an area page are a description list, so a screen reader announces each label with the value that belongs to it rather than reading a row of loose numbers.

Known limits

• The exposure gradient is a CSS background. In forced-colours mode it may render flat; the numeric reading beside it stays legible, which is why the number is there.
• Some pages carry long lists of symptoms in two columns on wide screens. They collapse to one column below 46rem.
• We have tested with keyboard navigation, browser zoom to 200%, and VoiceOver on macOS. We have not carried out a formal third-party audit.
